Shareholders of nuclear startup Oklo (NYSE: OKLO) have recently seen a notable turnaround. The company’s stock experienced a difficult first quarter, during which its share price dropped by more than 30%. However, the stock has since recovered and is now trading slightly in positive territory for the year.
Oklo started the year with a strong surge, rising 47% in the first full week of January. Over the following months, the price steadily declined, bottoming out at $45.58 per share on March 30. From that low, the stock rebounded sharply, climbing 75% to reach $79.62 per share on May 6. As of the close of trading on Thursday, the stock was valued at $72.21 per share, representing a year-to-date gain of 0.7%.
Investors who purchased shares in late March are likely pleased, while those who bought in mid-January may be less satisfied. For longer-term investors, a hypothetical $10,000 investment in Oklo on May 8, 2025, would be worth just over $26,310 today. The stock has proven highly volatile, as is common with speculative, pre-commercial companies. Returns have fluctuated significantly by month: a $10,000 investment made on May 8, 2025, would have peaked at $64,620 on October 14, and fallen to $16,910 on March 30.
Over the past two years, Oklo’s share price has ranged from a low of $5.59 in September 2024 to a high of $174.14 in October 2025. The report cautions that the stock is likely to remain very volatile for years and that only the most risk-tolerant investors should consider purchasing shares at this point.
The article also notes that a separate stock analyst team has identified what they believe are the ten best stocks to buy now, and Oklo was not included on that list.
