While volunteers spent Monday helping clear out the rubble and debris, others took the time to help those helping others.
“We are just continuously asking how we can get back to this community, and we are so happy and honored that we are able to support them,” Emily Loughridge with Tinker Federal Credit Union said.
TCFU partnered with Communication Federal Credit Union and the United Way to keep crews fed, caffeinated and hydrated as recovery work continues. Volunteers have flocked to the Gray Ridge neighborhood area after about 40 homes were damaged or destroyed Thursday.

For those who can’t return home, there is help for them, too. It comes by dialing 211.
“People can really simply call 211. We’re available 24 hours a day,” Rebecca Parks, Heartline 211 fundraising and external relations director, said.

Heartline 211 partnered with Airbnb and the state, giving out free housing voucher credits for those displaced. It is something they started doing during last year’s wildfires.
“After a natural disaster, you know, one of the first steps for people is where am I going to stay? Where am I going to rest my head? So, we’re really incredibly proud at Heartline to be able to provide this service,” Parks said.

They said they plan to continue to do this when a crisis like this happens.

“We’ll make sure that then the stays match all of your needs, from how many people are in your household, if you have pets, we’ll make sure it’s a pet-friendly stay, and we’ll try and get you referred to an Airbnb that’s located close to your normal everyday life,” Parks said.
As cleanup continues, people have been finding lots of stuff that doesn’t necessarily belong to them. They have been putting those items in a lost and found box at Morningside Place and Gray Ridge.
