COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKEF) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $372 million to reimburse Ohio state agencies and healthcare systems for costs incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding supports emergency protective measures and medical response efforts carried out to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on public health safety and healthcare operations.
The award is part of a broader $5.6 billion nationwide allocation for COVID-19 and disaster recovery assistance distributed to states, Tribal Nations and territories.

FEMA says all reimbursements undergo a detailed eligibility review process, including documentation verification and cost analysis, to ensure compliance with federal program requirements and proper use to taxpayer funds.
The agency also noted that additional projects will continue to be reviewed and funded on a rolling basis as eligibility is confirmed and scopes of work are finalized.
