Lindsey Vonn to Walk Without Crutches at Met Gala After Recovery from Injury – Yahoo

Olympian Lindsey Vonn is ready to take the next steps in her recovery—literally. Vonn is slated to attend the Met Gala on Monday, May 4, where she will attempt to walk without crutches for the first time since she sustained a complex tibia fracture while competing in Milano Cortina.
“There are a few stairs. Yes, it’s going to be intense. I was like, can I do this? Can I do this?” Vonn told CNN News Central. “You know, Thom Browne asked me a long time ago. And I love Thom. We did a campaign together during COVID. And it’s been like the thing that I’m like, can I get there? Like, you know, it’s like been the light at the end of the tunnel. And I’m going to try to walk. It’s, like, technically supposed to be my first day of walking a little bit without crutches. So from the start to the top of the stairs, if I can make it with no crutches, that’s a huge win.”
Vonn has undergone multiple surgeries since she crashed on February 8. She’s documented some of her rehab on social media, and has made great strides over the past few months.
“Step by step…recovering physically and mentally,” she captioned a photo of herself walking on a beach with crutches on April 17.
“Smiling is everything. I’m just so happy to be around people again,” she captioned another Instagram post that included photos and videos from her time at CBS on Saturday, May 2.
Vonn, 41, has stayed upbeat despite recent injuries that have impacted her career. As for her future, she isn’t ready to make any definitive decisions just yet.
