SAN ANTONIO — The mother of 3-year-old Amelia Perez, who was viciously attacked in a South Side park last month, is sharing new details about her daughter’s recovery.
Amelia and her mother, Gabby Perez, were at Espada Park when 24-year-old Atharva Vyas attacked them, police say. Amelia suffered bites on her face and had three teeth knocked out during the encounter.

While Gabby says they are physically recovering, they are also emotionally recovering. Gabby noted that her daughter continues to suffer from nightmares about the man who "bit her face."
Vyas has been charged with aggravated assault and assault causing bodily injury. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Vyas is in the country illegally.
