MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s congressional delegation says more than 420 million in FEMA money is finally headed to Vermont to help recover from the July 2023 floods.
The biggest chunk, nearly $12 million, goes to the city of Montpelier for permanent repairs to City Hall, the fire department, and police department buildings, plus related sidewalk and ramp work, with upgrades aimed at reducing future flood damage.
The state’s transportation agency, VTrans, is getting about $9 million to rebuild parts of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and repair railroad damage in Washington County.
